Date: Sunday, August 25, 2024
Time: 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM
Number of Participants: 43 (including children and adults)

Overview

The Rakshabandhan Utsav 2024 was successfully organized by the Vivekanand Shakha in Cary, North Carolina, marking a significant event that reflects the growing influence of the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS). The event was meticulously planned and executed, with the participation of 43 individuals from various age groups, emphasizing the cultural unity and traditions upheld by our Shakha.

Event Details

  • Start Time: The event commenced promptly at 5:30 PM, led by the Mukhya Shikshak. The program began with the Dhwaropan, followed by a briefing on the day’s activities.

  • Rakhi Ceremony: The Adhikari tied Rakhi to the Dhwaj, symbolizing our collective commitment to the values of RSS and HSS. Swayamsewaks then tied Rakhis to each other, reinforcing the bonds of brotherhood and unity.

  • Pranayam Session: A 15-minute session of Pranayam was conducted, providing a moment of calm and introspection for the participants.

  • Guest Presence: The event was graced by the chief guest from the Swami Venkatesh Temple in Cary, who was highly impressed by the discipline and organization of the event.

  • Cultural Performances: The Ekal Geet was performed with great emotion and was well-received by all participants.

  • Baudhik Session: The Shakha Vakta delivered a discourse on the significance of Rakshabandhan, tracing its history from ancient texts and emphasizing its relevance in modern times.

  • Conclusion: The event concluded with a prayer (Prarthana) and the distribution of Prasad, leaving participants with a sense of spiritual fulfillment.

Areas for Improvement

  1. Tika Ceremony: The Tika person was not present at the beginning, resulting in the Tika being performed at the end. This should be addressed for better event flow in future programs.

  2. Time Management: Although the event was planned for 1.5 hours, it concluded in 1 hour due to the Baudhik session being shorter than expected. Ensuring speakers have their full allocated time will improve the program’s impact.

  3. Role Assignment: The absence of a pre-assigned Karyakram Pramukh was noted. Assigning this role in advance is crucial for smoother coordination and execution.

Conclusion

The Rakshabandhan Utsav 2024 was a resounding success, demonstrating the meticulous planning, dedication, and cultural pride of the Vivekanand Shakha in Cary. The event not only celebrated a traditional festival but also highlighted the expansion of RSS and HSS in the United States. The participation and enthusiasm shown by all attendees reflect the strong sense of community fostered by our Shakha.

Photos and videos from the event are included with this report to provide a visual record of the program.
